Freetown Evening Dinner
Treat yourself to a memorable evening of African American cuisine and authentic period entertainment. Enjoy the company of Freetown Village residents as they host a dinner as it might have been presented in 1870, complete with before and after dinner parlor games, storytelling and songs. Heritage Workshops
Making a Time Capsule: Participants will learn about and make a time capsule.
Family Traditions: Participants will explore how family celebrate traditions and create new traditions
Getting a Line on the Past: Participants will develop a personal time line
Building a Family Archives: Participants will examine artifacts and learn how to preserve family heirlooms

Character Vignettes/Storytellers
These programs feature a “Day in the Life of…” series in which a particular Freetown Village resident shares his or her life experiences with the audience. The residents portrayed include Isaiah Cuffee, the barber; Sarah Elizabeth Cuffee, the seamstress; Matilda Addison, the school teacher; Mother Endura, the root woman; Daniel Thornton, the attorney; Guinea “Blue” Farnsworth, the vegetable man; and Reverend Samuel P. Strong, the preacher.

Children’s Ensemble
MISSION: To learn and share African American history through song, dance, and spoken expression. Freetown Village Children’s Ensemble is an outreach program and has performed locally at the Indianapolis Artsgarden, IMCPL Branch libraries, Orchard in Bloom Festival, and the International Festival.
STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: All children who have participated in our Summer Camp program are eligible to become Ensemble members. Children who have not participated in our camp should be 8-12 years old, and will need to audition. Space limited to 25 members.
Dates: Rehearsal Dates: Every 3rd and 4th Tuesday, September 1 – December 15
